If you have already fully used your foreign investment allowance, you can invest more in foreign assets through rand-denominated foreign collective investment schemes. The difference between this vehicle and the foreign investment allowance is that when you sell a rand-denominated foreign collective investment scheme, your funds are paid to you in South African rand.
A third option is to approach a financial institution and 'purchase' foreign investment capacity from them at a fee. They will apply to remit the funds offshore on your behalf and you can invest in offshore funds of your choice. Keep in mind that the financial institution whose capacity you use can approve or disapprove your fund selection. Furthermore, when you sell the investment, the proceeds will have to be remitted to South Africa.
