Debt free advice . . . .

document.write("I am sure that this article would be a revelation to some and I acknowledge the merit therein. However, this should be pure logic if not plain common sense to all. Unfortunately, living costs have excalated so that after cutting all the corners I can, it has become very difficult to find that extra R 200.00!! Perhaps the financial institutions could meet the already battered man-in-the-street half-way by writing off at least 20% of the total debt for \"good behaviour\" ie paying regularly each month and not increasing debt in any way. After all, these institutions have made their money over and over and have made it practically impossible to create a situation where the man in the street will become engulfed in debt again. Just a thought.. citizen");

Setup numerous reminders on your cellphone, PDA, diary, Outlook to remind you to make a payment to your accounts. If you have a store card 6 months interest free, settle them last and don't pay a cent more - there is no incentive to do so. Pay credit cards via EFT. Branch payments are horrific - the penalise you a lot. Change who you bank with. Change you insurance company or policy - or request better rates. Get quotes from other the competition and threaten them. Trust me, it works! Do your own gardening, and whatever DIY your are capable of. Slow down, look after your car - your car will last longer and it will reflect on your fuel bill. Don't make unnecessary trips. Never shop with a credit card. You will most likely buy unnecessary items if you are not disciplined. With certain items, budget is the worst way to buy, rather save up if you need it. Lastly, differenciate between wants and needs. Ask yourself : Do I really need that 42\" LCD?. ebzah");
