document.write("With Eskom mouthing threats of a 34% increase, maybe saving electricity is a good place to start. I have fitted a geyser timer in my switchboard which only allows the 4kW/hr geyser to be on for a max of 2 1/4 hours per day. That's 9 units a day x 40c = a max of around R110 per month, or probably less as the geyser switches off when hot. (You'll need a timer that handles about 18 amps.) Cook your chicken in a casserole in the microwave - 35 mins as opposed to hours in a current-gobbling oven. Invest in an airconditioner - it actually heats your room for about one third of the electricity of an electric element heater as it uses a heat pump principle. And your whole room is toasty warm. Sure, these things cost up front, but the savings go on and on.. fred");
