Creditcard Fraud

The guy must have skimmed her card cause the next day the bank phoned her to say they had picked up suspicious activity on her account. The guy tried a number of times to push through transactions of R5 000 to R10 000. It was blocked. My mom went to the Shoe #### manager to complain and he was less than helpful.. Herb");

");
document.write("Two people I know had their cards skimmed at McDonalds Parklands and Kenilworth in CT. Watch out!
The one at Parklands was doing it right in front of the person. He did not even see them doing it, that's how good they are.
So be paranoid people.
In both instances they use Easy Pay transactions to perform payments, so I think this should be tracable if the police and investigators are fast enough, but we all know they are not.
These transactions happens within minutes from when the cards were skimmed, so they have a very good system going.
The person whos' card was skimmed at Parklands thought to hell with this and made a case at the police station instead of just letting the investigators handle it. They went to McDonalds to pick up the woman and she already left. Looked at the cameras and saw how she skimmed the card, holding it in her hand next to the machine and swiping it first through the skimmer, then the card reader with a single swiping. So they are professionals.
My card and brother inlaws cards were both stolen at the same time. These guys had a party at Game, Incredible connection and then hired a car at the airport.
The guy at the airport did not even check the licence. He was seriously ####ed and called me with an attitude trying to get me to admit something or other.
Anyway, the investigator tracked them, but we never got any further details from them.
Scary stuff.. MTBer");

When we phoned to complain to management they said it couldn't possibly have happnened at theri restuarant and were not interested in doing anything about it. I witnessed the fuzz removing the guilty staff member cuffed after having found the device in her possession and the cash she had just withdrawn from his account. At least this one ended with the fraudster been bust!!! never ever let your card out of your site for a second!!! All decent restaurants have remote card stations so no need to take your card away and if they do stop them!! When are we getting the new pin code card similar to the UK!!!. Paul");

");
document.write("Spot on Anita! I was so impressed the last time I was overseas (Holland) where I never handed my card over and always swiped it myself. The card simply never left my hand.
It seems more than odd that our banks have not changed the card swiping business to that system, and/or insist on a pincode whenever it is used.
What is going on here?

The transfer was made in the Cape Town area only 3 and a half hours after the skimming!!! They either drove like hell or they can transfer the information long distance!!! We were not as lucky as some of you whom were informed by ABSA about the unusual transactions. It was not funn to sit in the Police station for 4 hours!!! So be carefull!!
