(Because, no matter what you hear, this time is not different from all the previous crises. And in all the previous times, those who chose to flee when prices fell and bought when they went back up were worse off in the long run. Every single time.)
Really? THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT!!!!! I live in Europe, I hear world leaders talk, wise men with white hair, not brokers seeking commission. I sense you guys in RSA are behind the times. Get yourselves informed overseas, not inside RSA. You don't know what's going on in the big wide world of finance. CASH IS KING. Warren Buffet lost out badly by sticking to what you advise!!!!
Sorry to disagree with my countrymen, this is not a cyclic event, it's a huge TSUNAMI and the damage will take decades to recover.
Don't believe Banks and Brokers in RSA who sell you their products. Get advice overseas! Double Check.. Egon Kramer"); document.write("

If you generate 8% interest in RSA while TRUE infltion is 10% plus, you lose 2% per annum. Be wise don't get hurt. . Egon Kramer"); document.write("
SA is not The World

Invest in Europe! Ha! I'd like some of what you're smoking, dude!

Europe is a wasteland and SA's paltry 0.5 percent GDP growth suddenly doesn't seem too bad at all.

Investing in EU -- a huge mistake

"); document.write("Yet the €uro is far more stable than the rand. The euro as a currency has strengthened in terms of forex against the dollar and recently was nearly one to one with the GBP.

I currently earn 4% interest for money in a current account in Euro zone. The inflation is pegged at 1,8%. That could go higher but will only become a concern when it is more than 4%.

The people in most euro zone countries are better off than most others because they are less in debt. The global crisis is costing jobs by the day, but European governments are extremely reactive, pro-active and much has been done, is being done to stem further damage.

The global effects have been fully felt in SA yet. How long this will be the case, nobody can tell because there has never been a financial disaster of this magnitude before.

I think the best you can do to secure your funds is to invest in a better currency such as the Euro. The GBP has lost nearly 30% in value. The USD is no better. The rand....whats that?......otherwise buy property something you can see, touch, sell off, keep and let it take value...these stocks/shares/trader bull#### makes it difficult to see the wood for the trees and since that lot have been caught with pants down, it's pointless more good money after bad.. International class auditors shoot holes through what you say, so much for that. Getting personal is a sign of weakness, pull up your socks, what do they exude?
