Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has called on law enforcement officials to speed up their probe into looting at the Land Bank.

Several former senior Land Bank executives are under investigation after the misappropriation of millions of rand was revealed.

Gordhan announced on Tuesday the bank would receive an additional R1-billion as soon as a turnaround strategy was implemented.

Gordhan said those who had misappropriated money must be held accountable.

"We want that investigation finished as quickly as possible. We want the reasonable number of culprits involved in this to be brought to trial as quickly as possible, so that the South African public can be assured that the justice system is working in South Africa."
