Recent research conducted by www.ThinkMoney.co.za amongst 4500 of its members reveals that FNB banking products are among the most popular and highly rated in South Africa.

Of those ThinkMoney.co.za members polled, 10 percent hold a FNB Silver Cheque Account and nine percent hold an FNB Smart Cheque Account.

FNB accounts most highly rated

Besides being the most popular bank accounts, FNB offerings are also highly rated by those who held an account with them — 77 percent of FNB Silver Cheque Account holders would recommend it to their friends. It wasn’t only the Silver Account which was highly recommended, in fact all of FNB’s accounts ranked higher in terms of service/recommendation than other banks such as ABSA or Standard Bank.

The third most popular bank account was the ABSA Silver Current Account, which 7.6 percent of members used. However, only 42 percent of those who had this account would recommend it to others. The lowest rated account in terms of service was the ABSA Gold Current Account, with only 38 percent of users recommending it.

Capitec best service overall

Although only three percent of ThinkMoney.co.za users have a Capitec Global One Account, they gave it the best service rating/recommendation overall, which was an impressive 91 percent. This, along with the fact that Capitec has the cheapest overall bank charges, continues to make it a very attractive current account option.

The most popular current accounts with ThinkMoney.co.za users (by far) are the entry level accounts from all of the big four banks.
